Baja Scuba Diving Report - July 2nd 2007

First of all, I want to say hello to all of our friends and also to all the people that visit our website.

Finally the water started to get warmer and the visibility is getting better and better everyday. Probably some of you know that the season for Whale Sharks and Giant Pacific Mantas starts at the end of May until the end of October. So now every time that we go out on the boats to the Island we are looking for those two big creatures on the way to the dive sites.

Yesterday I was on one of the boats and in the morning when we left the cortez club dock the wind from the south was making the sea a little bit rough, but after 9.00 am the water got calm and flat. The color of the water was blue and we also were enjoying the beautiful view of the Espiritu Santo Island. On the way to our destination we started to see in the distance many  black fins starting to come out of the water, so I was thinking that it was a big school of dolphin, but when we got closer to them we found out that was a big school of Pilot Whales. One of them jumped close to the boat making one of the best shows that I never seen before. We spent like an hour with them taking pictures and some of  us jumped in to swim with them for a few minutes.

The sky is clear and the air temperature is warm at the moment. We have everyday temperatures between 80 to a 100 F and probably somo of the days more than that. The water temperature is around 76 to 80 F on the surface in some of the places. Under water temperature is between 70 to 75 F.

All of the divers that like to come in the summer time to the Sea of Cortez and also to all of the divers that like to visit new places for diving around the world, it¹s time to start thinking that the Sea of Cortez in the La Paz, Baja is the best option.

I hope and see you all here soon,

Saludos,

The crew
