Hello divers, it looks like we will have an early season this year.
We had our first whale shark sighting last week, and during the week we had 3 different whale sharks in the bay of La Paz.
The water is warming up early as well, temperature is up to 74 degrees Fahrenheit at the surface and 68 at depth, warm water is getting the plankton all excited so visibility is dropping a bit but big schools of mobulas are here, so are different types of whales like humpbacks, fins, pilot and the blues should be coming down soon.
At el bajo you can see schools of yellow tail, skip jacks and amber jack. And still the occasional hammerhead. The seamount it self is a great dive this time of year with all the bait staying close to the mount looking for protection from the big pelagics, you can be covered with bait any second and see some yellow tail chasing the smaller fish.
The sea lion colony is as always, an excellent dive, the sea lions are playful and like to interact with divers, they will come down and do loops in front of you and the more you play with them the more playful the become, so try to imitate their movements if you can. Besides the sea lions there is lots of other life in that small area.
The wrecks at Espiritu Santo island are attracting the big schools of Mexican barracuda, divers can get bellow them and just sit for a long time looking at them going round and round in endless circles. Our resident turtle is back at fang Ming and it is friendlier than before, apparently it likes posing for pictures because divers are getting close to it and taking all the pictures they want.
So come down and enjoy some great diving before the crowds get here.
Saludos,
The crew
